Thermal properties can differ on the same site due to differences in the geologic strata encountered.  An in-situ thermal conductivity test from a single borehole may not represent the site average.  In some cases test holes cost unneeded time and lots of money.

For pennies on the dollar, a predictive geologic/geothermal assessment (based on our library of data and years of experience) can give you a conservative average of the thermal parameters needed for your initial design.

Lithologic Log of Geothermal Test Hole

The earth’s temperature increases with depth – this is called the geothermal gradient. The rate of temperature increase in depth depends largely on the thermal conductivity of the geologic materials at each site.
